We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason if we....remember that we are not descended from fearful men, not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes which were, for the most part unpopular.
~ Edward Murrow

This website is to inform that Dennis W. Petitt was arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced in Sangamon County and his defense was unreasonably doubted by Sangamon County Officer's, Detectives, State's Attorney's, Defense Attorney's and the Judge.  His family and friends however have never doubted him.

Justice for Denny Petitt Committee

ABOUT US
We unequivocally believe that all citizens of the United States have the right to a fair trial with competent counsel to prove their innocence.  Denny Petitt was denied a fair trial because of inept counsel, media bias influence on the jury, inadequate investigation, and inexplicable lack of forensic testing.  We believe that Denny Petitt was denied his basic civil rights and was unfairly convicted.  Accordingly, Denny Petitt's case should be reopened and reviewed by the State of Illinois through the grant of a new trial.

To find and present to the people and government of Springfield, Illinois the truth about Denny Petitt.  Reasonable people will see that the he was wrongfully convicted of murdering his brother.
GOAL
To achieve one or more of the following:
  • The Judicial Exoneration of Denny Petitt and/or a new trial,
  • The withdrawal by the State's Attorney of Sangamon County of the charges against Denny Petitt.

  • Writing letters to and meeting with elected and appointed government officials,
  • Letter writing to the media,
  • Polling the public,

    Lord, open my eyes that I may see the needs of others;
     open my ears that I may hear their cries;
     open my heart so that they need not be without succor;
     let me not be afraid to defend the weak because of the anger of the strong,
     nor afraid to defend the poor because of the anger of the rich.
      Show me where love and hope and faith are needed, and use me to bring them to those places.
      And so open my eyes and my ears that I may this coming day be able to do some work of peace for thee.
     Amen.
